Poetry of Heart
Far from this land I walk on,
From the soils that my feet touch,
Across the deep, wide oceans,
Is the one I love so much.
I cannot see your eyes from here,
Though I remember they are perfect blue.
I cannot touch your face from here,
Nor say what I am longing to.
My eyes, they search the dark expanse,
To where you, they hope to find,
But no vision greets their view,
As you are but in my mind.
My hands, they want to reach out,
Just to know that you are there,
But they grasp with complete futility,
As you are but wisps of air.
My mouth, it yearns to speak before you,
Yet stops prior to the wasted breath
Can come and take a hold of me
In this room of silent death.
Still, though, I close my eyes,
Perchance to sleep, perchance to dream,
Wherever I can be with you
Is a heaven it does seem.
So close you are within my heart,
Yet still so far away,
It confuses my mind beyond compare,
And I know not of what to say.
